Born in 1970 in Tokyo, Takehiko Nakafuji dropped out of his studies in Literature at Waseda University in order to obtain a degree in Photography from Tokyo Visual Arts, where he was a student of Daido Moriyama. He has produced several monochrome photography books from his travels in Japan, Eastern Europe, Russia and Cuba. His exhibition at Mind’s Eye was drawn from two of these books, Enter the Mirror, published in 1997, and Sakuan, Matapaan: Hokkaido, for which he was awarded the Special Photographer Award at the Higashikawa International Photography Festival in 2013. Takehiko Nakafuji received the Hayashi Tadahiko Award in 2015 and is was featured in an important group exhibition at the Tokyo Photo Art Museum in 2017. .He is the owner of Gallery Niépce in Yotsuya, Tokyo.
